Crisis Communications
New forms of crisis communication are peer-to-peer oriented, not top-down. People respond to crises (e.g., hurricane evacuation alerts) in multiple ways: not simply following official instructions, but checking in with key peers (family, friends, trusted others). This articles explores ways in which officials can interact with the social networks of crisis victims to make primary response tactics more efficient.
