Emergence Persuasion
Traditional methods of promoting environmental awareness and supporting the need for eco-minded initiatives have been unsuccessful in fostering longterm change. The narrative of climate change must become one which induces people to change their behaviour quickly.

Visions of a Sustainable World
Dear Friends, I’m delighted to share with you the online video launch of our new “Visions of a Sustainable World” lecture series.
Dedicated to inspiring visions of a sustainable world and practical strategies to achieve it, the lecture series was inaugurated this Spring by Dr. Paul Raskin, the President of the Tellus Institute and a Director of the Great Transition Initiative. Dr. Raskin presented a provocative “history from the future” – a look back at how global sustainability was achieved, from the vantage point of the year 2084.
Our second speaker was Alex Steffen, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Worldchanging and Editor of Worldchanging: A User's Guide for the 21st Century. He spoke about "Building a Bright Green Future That Works," on the emerging tools available to create sustainable, prosperous communities.
Both lectures are available via Yale's YouTube channel:

SEED Magazine: The Last Experiment
The Last Experiment in SEED Magazine is an excellent overview of the role Social Science might play in motivating us to do something about Climate Change.
Stonehouse member Anthony Leiserowitz points out that the human decision-making processes required to do something about climate change are at least as complicated as the technical challenge of reducing GHG emissions. This is a great read, I hope you enjoy.

The Climate Project
The Climate Project consists of 2,600 dedicated volunteers from throughout the United States, Australia, Canada, India, Spain, and the UK, all personally trained by Al Gore to educate the public about climate change. TCP presenters have reached a combined 4 million people worldwide. Our hope is that by raising the awareness of our fellow citizens about this crisis and informing them about potential solutions, all of us, together, can preserve the climate balance on which humanity and our planet depend.

League of Conservation Voters
The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) is turning environmental values into national priorities. To secure the environmental future of our planet, LCV’s mission is to advocate for sound environmental policies and to elect pro-environmental candidates who will adopt and implement such policies. We educate the public, build coalitions, promote grassroots power, and train the next generation of environmental leaders as part of our grassroots efforts.

The 11th Hour Project
The 11th Hour Project connects organizations, businesses, and individuals to one another, resources, and information to create a sustainable world. We work to change public perceptions about climate change from hand-wringing hopelessness to engaged, hands-on problem solving.

The Wilderness Society
Since 1935, The Wilderness Society has led the conservation movement in wilderness protection, writing and passing the landmark Wilderness Act and winning lasting protection for 107 million acres of Wilderness, including 56 million acres of spectacular lands in Alaska, eight million acres of fragile desert lands in California and millions more throughout the nation. It is our calling and our passion to protect America’s wilderness, not as a relic of our nation’s past, but as a thriving ecological community that is central to life itself. To meet our goals, we use science and collaboration with communities and conservation groups to bring about sensible policies and positive change in land conservation.

The Regeneration Project
The mission of The Regeneration Project is to deepen the connection between ecology and faith. Our Interfaith Power and Light campaign is mobilizing a religious response to global warming in congregations through the promotion of renewable energy, energy efficiency, and conservation. We focus on tangible results in congregations -- putting our faith into action. This work includes educating congregations and helping them buy energy efficient lights and appliances, providing energy audits and implementing the recommendations, encouraging people to buy more fuel efficient vehicles and to drive less, supporting renewable energy development through "greentags," working on large-scale renewable energy installation projects such as rooftop solar and advocating for sensible energy and global warming policy.

Toward a New Ecological Majority
American environmentalists today face a paradox. On the one hand, the environmental agenda of conservation and pollution reduction is wildly popular. On the other, environmental protections continue to be rolled back in Washington. What explains this apparent disconnect? American Environics conducted a values-based, psychographic segmentation of the electorate to identify the values shared by environmentalists. Earthjustice and other environmental organizations that are seeking to grow
their membership and diversify their memberships demographically must engage in strategies that can bridge gaps between environmental groups and other socially activists.
