
Brian GuestPresident, Boxfish Group
Brian Guest brings together detailed knowledge of government operations at the federal, provincial and municipal level. He has developed complex policy initiatives and implemented important changes in environment, municipal supports, healthcare and social policy.
As Bob Chiarelli's Director of Communications and Policy, Brian worked through provincial and municipal issues surrounding the creation of the new City of Ottawa and led the team that implemented Ottawa's O-train pilot project. He ran two successful election campaigns for Mayor Chiarelli before moving to federal politics.
As Director of Communication for the Minister of Finance, Brian worked closely with Minister Paul Martin to launch the New Deal for Cities and Communities and pilot successful budgets. After serving as Director of Policy and Communications for the Paul Martin Leadership campaign, Brian led the team that created policy underpinnings for the Martin administration. As Deputy Principle Secretary - Policy, Brian had primary responsibility for the 2004 Health Accord, same-sex marriage, Project Green, and the New Deal for Cities and Communities.
In 2005, Brian founded the Canadian Centre for Policy Ingenuity (CCPI) and the Boxfish Group in order to pursue a wide range of climate change initiatives. He has worked with the Ontario government on the design of climate change plans and renewable energy policy. Through CCPI he has continued to work on various climate change advocacy projects around the world. He also developed the riding results prediction model that powered Vote For the Environment in the last Federal Election.
As President of the Boxfish Group, Brian authored the policy of Stephane Dion’s campaign for the leadership of the Liberal Party. He designed and wrote Mr. Dion’s Carbon Budget proposals. Currently the Boxfish Group develops renewable energy projects in Ontario under the Feed in Tariff.
